When it comes to a brilliant student experience, Exeter marks the spot. This historic city is loved for its compact, characterful centre, and position close to both beautiful countryside and stunning coastline. You can be studying in the morning and swimming in the sea in the afternoon, before heading back to the buzzy Quayside.
Exeter's distinctive neighbourhoods offer a variety of entertainment to match your mood. Close to your student accommodation in the heart of Exeter is the Cathedral Quarter, where you'll find smart shops and restaurants. West Quarter and Magdalen Road are brimming with indie boutiques and cool cafes. And the Quayside is your waterfront hangout. There are quirky pubs and banging clubs open every night of the week if nightlife is what you're looking for.
Exeter is a centre for creative arts and culture. The University of Exeter has its own prestigious sculpture collection, plus the internationally renowned Bill Douglas Cinema Museum. In the centre of town, check out Phoenix Exeter for contemporary events, talks and DJ sets. Cygnet Theatre is the place for interesting performance. And there are music, craft and food and drink festivals throughout the year.
Exeter pre-dates the Romans and its fascinating history can be seen all around – from the roof of its glorious Gothic cathedral to the network of medieval Underground Passages beneath the city's streets. Walk the Roman walls or discover more about the city's heritage at Exeter's Royal Albert Memorial Museum. Your student accommodation puts you at the heart of the city, so you can explore its heritage while creating the friendships and memories that will become your student story.
